Match Preview: Norwich City Vs Aston Villa

Norwich City will be hoping to close the gap on the play off places this Saturday as they take on 12th placed Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.

The last time these two met at this stadium Aston Villa came out with all three points as they sailed to a comfortable 2-0 victory in a game described as a ‘huge relegation scrap’. Since then times have changed and both teams were indeed relegated, and both went into this season hoping to bounce straight back.

However things don’t always go to plan and as things stand neither side will be winning promotion back to the top flight, however there is still hope. Norwich sit just 5 points a drift from the play off places, and a win in this game could help them close this narrow gap even further.

Meanwhile for Villa promotion is near impossible as they sit 12 points a drift from 6th placed Sheffield Wednesday with only 8 games remaining.

The last time these two met this season it was Norwich who came out as victors in a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a 62nd minute curling finish from Portuguese forward Nelson Oliviera.

Both sides will be hoping for victory in what is expected to again be a tight game, with Villa being narrow favourites with the majority of bookies.

No new injuries for Aston Villa as they remain without De Laet and Scott Hogan, however Gabriel Agbonlahor is a possibility after returning to full training last weekend.

For Norwich City Graham Dorrans should be fit enough to start on Saturday, however suspension means that left back Mitchell Dijks will miss out.

The game is guaranteed to be a thriller and should also be a close one, however our prediction is that if Norwich City are up for it and perform to the best of their ability, then they should come home with three points in the bag.
